Base Pay

We provide competitive base pay (salaries) to our staff members - and we regularly monitor our Base Pay Program to ensure we remain competitive. On each employment anniversary, staff is eligible to earn merit increases based on their performance.

Incentive Pay

SMCU provides quarterly incentive awards to staff who meet and/or exceed service targets and organizational performance goals.

Health Benefits

SMCU provides a complete healthcare benefit package to all regular, full-time and regular, part-time employees: medical, dental, vision, long & short term disability, life/AD&D and an employee assistance program. SMCU pays 100% of an employee's premiums for these coverages. Employees may add their dependent spouse or domestic partner and/or children to our medical and dental plans. SMCU pays for 50% of the premium expense for full-time employees' family members added to these plans and 25% of the premium expense for part-time employees' family members.

401(K) Retirement Plan, Profit Sharing & Company Match

SMCU staff may contribute up to $15,500 per year of their pre-tax income to our 401(k) retirement plan. SMCU kicks in 6% of each staff member's income regardless of their personal contributions to the plan. Additionally, SMCU matches up to 50% of the first 8% a staff member contributes to the plan.

Paid Job Training

SMCU is committed to training employees and we have two full-time trainers to do so. Our training department handles technical and workplace skills training.

Transportation Subsidy Reimbursement

SMCU provides a Flex Pass which is 100% subsidized transportation to all staff members for bus and/or ferry transportation expenses that they incur from their commute to work.

Employee Referral Bonus

SMCU pays generous cash awards to staff when we hire individuals that they have referred to us.

Free Flu Shots

Each Fall, SMCU brings a registered nurse to our work site and invites staff to get free flu shots at the company's expense.

Business Casual Dress

No need for a tie here. Staff enjoys a business or business casual dress environment and casual dress days on Fridays and Saturdays.

Paid Vacation & Sick Leave

Staff accrue paid Personal Leave on a monthly basis to cover vacations and sick leave. In the first year of employment, staff accrue one-and-a-half days of personal leave each month (18 days/year for full-time staff, 9 days/year for part-time staff). After every five years of employment the Personal Leave accrual rate increases. Staff also accrue three floating holidays per year (one-and-a-half floating holidays for part-time staff).

Paid Holidays

SMCU observes nine common holidays each year.

Tuition Reimbursement

SMCU provides up to $2,000 per year ($1,000 for part-timers) in tuition reimbursement to staff members attending college/university courses in their pursuit of a degree.

Free Membership Benefits

Our staff enjoy special SMCU membership privileges, including waived fees for numerous credit union services.

Recognition

SMCU's Service Award Program recognizes and rewards staff with generous cash awards for meeting service milestones. Our PRIDE (People Recognizing Individuals Demonstrating Excellence) Program allows staff members to recognize one another and receive cash awards and other prizes.

Fun. Yes, fun!

At SMCU, we work hard to create a fun work place where staff are encouraged to enjoy themselves while providing great service to our members. Each year staff members on our Social Committee plan a special dinner for each employee to attend along with a guest. The committee also coordinates various contests, games, and events to enjoy throughout the year. Additionally, staff enjoy wackiness, food, surprises, and prizes at our bi-monthly All Staff Meetings, also known as All Staff Productions!
