Membership Information

Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union (SMCU) provides financial services to anyone who lives or works in the state of Washington including the following groups:

  • Employees of the City of Seattle
  • Persons who are employed by eligible Select Employee Groups
  • Everyone related to a current member by blood, adoption, or marriage, regardless of where she/he lives, including domestic partners.

"Once a Member, always a Member." Once a person joins the credit union, she/he may remain a Member for life, even if her/his relationship to a qualifying organization changes.

How to Join

Those who meet the eligibility requirements may join the credit union. There are three convenient ways to establish membership:

  1. Apply Online
  2. Request a membership packet be mailed to you.
  3. Visit one of the branches.
