At SMCU, we’ve taken our online Bill Pay to the next level of convenience with E-Bills — electronic versions of your bills that you can receive, manage and pay all through SMCU’s online Bill Pay service. With E-Bills and its new features, staying on top of your finances just got easier.
Electronic Presentment
Electronic Presentment can help you pay your bills more quickly by presenting some of your bills electronically within SMCU’s secure Online Banking platform. Not only will you receive your bills quicker than standard mail, but your bills will be centralized in one place, making them much easier to manage.
Electronic Presentment displays exact replicas of the paper versions of your bills, which means you don’t have to worry about searching for the bill’s due date, minimum amount due or total amount due. All that information is presented to you right there in Online Banking.
Bill Reporting
E-Bills now includes a detailed report function. You can use it to view the details of a past payment, such as when the payment was sent, to whom it was paid, and the amount the payment was for. In addition to narrowing your report down to display just one payment, the reporting feature can also be used to search all bills paid to just utility companies, for example.
Enhanced Security
Besides eliminating clutter and simplifying your monthly bills, E-Bills also helps prevent consumer identity theft by reducing the amount of paper mail that contains sensitive information. As soon as you set up E-Bills, you can contact the payee and request to stop receiving bills in the mail, which will reduce the amount of paper that contains personal information about you and your accounts at other creditors and financial institutions.
In addition, E-Bills will also help you monitor your Bill Pay activities. Now you will receive email notifications when you schedule a bill to be paid, as well as when the payment is sent and received. This will allow you to determine if there is any unauthorized access on your account, and will give you the chance to protect your information in the event it is compromised.
E-Bill Set-Up Is Easy
Ready to trade paper bills for virtual bills? The first step is to begin using SMCU’s online Bill Pay. Sign-up is simple and since SMCU’s online Bill Pay is FREE and now offers more convenience than ever, you can’t go wrong!
- Signing up for SMCU’s Online Banking is the first step to accessing online Bill Pay. For instructions, simply click on the First Time Users link in the Online Banking log in box.
- Already an Online Banking user? Log in to Online Banking, click on Bill Payment at the top of the page and follow the step-by-step instructions.
- If you’re already an SMCU online Bill Pay user you can start using E-Bills right away. Choose Set up E-Bill for any payee that has the available link.
